We're Back in Business!

I don't know how to segue between something less exciting to the fact that HARLEQUIN WANTS MY NEW FOUR-BOOK SERIES! AHHHHHHH!

I've already given the rundown on my publishing journey thanks to MANHUNT (releasing in April 2015) but now it's time to tell you a little about my new series and the proposal that made it possible!

After MANHUNT was revised and sent back to my editor, I knew I wanted to go down that road again. I wanted to keep writing for Harlequin as long as they would have me. Thanks to some encouragement from all of the wonderful Intrigue ladies, I decided that I needed to create a new series. Yes, you read that right. A new series.

I had an idea that would connect four different books together to four different stories. I won't go into too much detail just yet but I will say it follows four friends and colleagues (hello, Oliver, Mark, Jonathan, and Nikki!) as they struggle to do their jobs to the best of their abilities while navigating the tricky balance between danger and love. Even though I haven't written and finished all four stories, creating the proposal made me fall in love with each and every one of them!

Now, the proposal took me a bit longer than I thought it would when it was just an idea in my head. I think it took almost a month to really get everything right.

My proposal included:
- A one to two-paragraph blurb about each book and how they were connected
- A full-book synopsis of what happens in book one
- The first three chapters of book one
- A brief synopsis (per book) for books two, three, and four
- My blood, sweat, and tears...and mental coffee stains

Finishing that proposal and sending it off made me more of a nervous wreck than writing it did but I'm so glad I took the chance! I received "the call" this past Thursday (Oct. 2) that my new series was a GO!

Which means I should probably stop writing this and get back to work! ;)
